Wooden Fences

Privacy, picket, split rail, shadowbox, and board on board.

Wood, natural warmth and real privacy

Wood, natural warmth and real privacy

Wood is still the warmest fence you can put on a property, and it is the most adaptable. Privacy, picket, split rail, shadowbox, and board on board each give the yard a different character from the same material.

High Country Fence builds in pressure treated pine or cedar, frames the runs so they do not bow, and braces the gates so they keep their square. Stain it, paint it, or let it silver out on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose cedar or pressure treated pine?

Cedar gives you the grain and a natural resistance to insects and rot. Treated pine costs less and takes stain well. Both work here when the posts are set right.

When should a new wood fence be stained?

After the boards have dried out enough to take the finish. We tell you what to watch for so the stain soaks in instead of sitting on the surface.

Which wood style gives the most privacy?

Board on board and tight privacy give a solid face. Shadowbox trades a little screening for airflow, which matters on an exposed run.

Will a wood fence warp or cup?

Boards move as they dry. Correct rail spacing, fasteners at the right points, and a finish once the wood is ready are what keep that movement small.

Can a wood fence follow a sloped yard?

Yes, either racked to follow the grade or stepped down in sections. Racking keeps the bottom tight to the ground, which matters if you are containing a pet.
